Update: Cat & Car. Neither stink.

Everyone thinks I'm in love with this cat.
I'm not in love with this cat. In fact, there is really no room for her. We are sharing a small space and I'm not all the fond of the smell of cat food. She can't really go outside of this room bc she has no claws and no hearing. That could be a big problem if Wizard, local feline-bully were to take a fancy to her. Not in the romantic way — but in the I-will-dominate-you way. In the I-will-slice-you-up-for-dinner way. In the oh-it-turns-out-i'm-not-hungry way. In the so-i-will-just-leave-you-there way.

Poor kitty is just a sitting duck for the likes of Wizard the cat.

Beyond that there are open doors and windows that lead out to the busy street I rescued her from to begin with.

So Kitty stays in and we share a space.

The End to the Stinker
The really good news is that Miss Clara Bones spent 24 hours at the vets on Wednesday and had seven teeth pulled out. I was surprised she had seven to pull. I was surprised there were any left.

And now she is a new cat! She doesn't stink to high heaven. She is not in a constant state of dry-heave (tho has happened twice that I know of). She doesn't do that funny paw-and-mouth disease act anymore (trying to get something unstuck from her mouth, it looked like, and then she would almost topple over while trying to do so.). So some of the comedy relief is gone, too. But atleast people want to pet her now.

The vet was expensive and I can't afford it, but I am really happy that she went and that we had all of that done. And she looks so cute — okay, maybe a better word is pathetic — with her little shaved spots on her front arms (as housemate Jim would say. I tried to remind him that cats don't have arms.)

Besides the Vet, Wednesday was still a big day.
I bought a new car.

It's funny the emotions/reactions this brings up in me.

First of all, there is a part of me that feels I should justify that it is new in two ways. Way one, I had my last car brand new and drove it for twelve and a half years. (!) Way two, I will have this car also for a long time.

Second, I'm also down-playing the SUV-ness. I'm calling it a not-really-an-SUV. In reality it's not. It's an SUV wannabe. But damn it is cute! It gets 29 miles per gallon. It's the same length as my old sweety celica (that in its old age lost stereo, heating, and vitality).

ravSo what did I get? The new Toyota Rav4. It's got everything I wanted except ABS. I can now haul my friends around instead of the other way around. I have heat! I have a radio and a CD player! It's the little things I tell you. It's silver outside, gray inside. It's super cute (the guys at work have been teasing me about that part. Marya, did you pick it out because it was cute? they ask. Well duh, I says.).

No one really knows how much I needed a new car.

Not writing much.
I haven't really had much to say lately. Except at work where I am the jabberwocky. But that is just because I've been a bit bored lately and haven't had enough to do. At work I jabber. At home I've been working on new designs for the web site. Which has been moving slowly. I don't mind though. I'm not big on one-big-push.

I read a great line the other day from Erykah Badu: I don't believe in deadlines. I believe in lifelines.

Well, right on.

So, not much to say. Just have been quiet and redesigning. Hanging a lot with my housemates. Saw a local production of Mame that was surprisingly good. The Yoga Centre just moved across the street from me so I am REALLY excited about that.

And yesterday, as I walked out to my car, I heard multiple mockingbirds.

Mockingbirds, daffodils, jasmine in full bloom, and a wisteria that's trying to pop out.

It's spring.
